Around the start of 2010, I was feeling strongly that the best metaphor for my life was that of a ship at sea. While I am still quite in love with all things nautical and ocean-ish, the pictures in my mind, of myself, seem to have taken flight into something more…avian…as of late. It’s too bad “avian” is such an ugly word, but it’s lucky that the phrase “up she rises” still applies very nicely!

In line with the aforementioned shift, I’ve decided to move away from this particular blog and start sharing things over here. (SUBSCRIBE! SUBSCRIBE!)

As they say in Portlandia: put a bird on it!

Many people are looking for an ear that will listen. They do not find it among Christians, because these Christians are talking where they should be listening. But he who can no longer listen to his brother will soon be no longer listening to God either…. This is the beginning of the death of the spiritual life.

When we “do” charity, whose humanity are we actually affirming?

The Burnside Writers Collective has some interesting thoughts on Why Beggars Can’t Be Choosers.

It’s time to change direction–

recalculate coordinates.

I’ve been sharing about my travels via this little log for about a year now, and thus far I’ve been exploring the far & deep reaches of myself. It’s been helpful; I’ve seen things in new ways, healing and encouraging ways. And even though one should never abandon the relationship one have with one’s self, I’m feeling compelled to head into new territory.

Scary territory.

Places where people are suffering, and injustice is what’s doled out. Places where those of us with certain resources might be able to help. Or, places into which no one in their right mind sails. Complicated situations.

I hear voices calling for a fight, and I start to get excited.

So. You might notice a change in what I write about here.

Hope you don’t mind.

Love you always.
